The main thing it does is slow down your sensitivity when your aimed in a cone near the player. Also if you are already aiming at someone and have them in that cone and they attempt to move out it or through it your reticle will gently follow them but by no means will it keep them in the center of that cone.

Here is what people are not understanding. Controller players NEED aim assist, we get it controllers aren’t meant to be precise in shooters. The problem is ADS spam which is a result of the “pull” aspect of aim assist. What Epic intends is to add a cool down to it to prevent the ADS spam exploit.

Aim assist is in a pretty good spot tbh. It definitely is made to help decrease the skill gap, as logically it’s harder to aim on the sticks, but 50% is totally unfair. Check how many controller players win cups. It’s not many, because they are at a severe disadvantage. If you feel so strongly about aim assist, just practice controller.
